This fabulous Louis XVI cast iron shoe scraper dates from the late eighteenth century. Note, how after centuries of use, it has worn down in the middle. It was sourced from one of Frederic Mistral's residences in Provence.
Joseph Étienne Frédéric Mistral (1830–1914) was a prominent French writer celebrated for his work in Occitan literature. His 1904 Nobel Prize recognized his poetic originality and cultural contributions, reflecting the essence of his people. Mistral's involvement with Félibrige and the Académie de Marseille left a lasting linguistic and literary legacy.
