What does TAA-compliant mean, and when is it required?

The Trade Agreements Act sets country-of-origin requirements for products purchased under U.S. government contracts, including GSA schedule purchases and federally funded projects administered at the state and local level. TAA compliance is commonly required for lighting purchased by federal agencies, public schools and universities receiving federal funding, VA hospitals and federally funded healthcare facilities, and municipal governments operating under federal grant programs. Specifying non-compliant fixtures on these projects can result in procurement rejection or change orders mid-installation.

Does this panel install directly into a standard 2x4 drop ceiling grid?

Yes. The fixture measures 47.8 inches by 23.8 inches, which fits the standard 2-foot-by-4-foot T-bar ceiling grid used in most commercial drop ceiling systems. It can also be surface-mounted using the optional kit for spaces without a grid ceiling, such as drywall ceilings in corridors or utility spaces.

What is the difference between this TAA version and the standard WL-BLPLED-2x4-50W panel?

The TAA version uses materials and manufacturing that meet Trade Agreements Act country-of-origin requirements, which the standard model does not. In terms of performance, the TAA version offers three wattage settings (30/40/50W) and three CCT options (3500K/4000K/5000K), while the standard model offers five wattage settings and five CCT options, including 3000K and 6500K. For projects where TAA compliance is not a procurement requirement, the standard model offers a greater configuration range. For federally funded or GSA-procured projects, the TAA version is the appropriate choice.

Can wattage and CCT be set independently, and can they be adjusted after installation?

Yes, wattage and CCT are set independently. A room can be configured at 40W and 4000K, while an adjacent space uses the same fixture at 30W and 3500K. Both settings are determined during installation and can be adjusted afterward if the fixture remains accessible, allowing facility teams the option to reconfigure zones as space use changes without replacing hardware.
