Scientific Name: Fittonia albivenis

These fun plants will max out at about 6" tall and will get bushier with age. If height becomes an issue, you may prune down in size-- it is recommended to remove flower spikes when they form or plants tend to get "leggy". They have shallow fibrous root systems.

Best for These Animals:

• Small to moderate sized reptiles and amphibians, generally tropical, and especially animals from humid climates, such as dart frogs.

Soil Depth:

• Shallow to moderate with proper drainage.

Lighting:

• Low to medium indirect light (or low-level full-spectrum LED/UVB terrarium lighting). 
  

• Avoid placing directly under intense heat lamps — leaves can scorch easily.

Humidity & Misting:

• Prefers moderate to high humidity (40% – 100%), with higher levels recommended for optimal growth. 

• Ensure good air circulation to prevent mold.

Temperature Tolerance & Placement in the Terrarium:

• Ideal range: 70–80°F (21.1–26.7°C), but can take between 60 and 85 degrees.

• Avoid prolonged exposure below 60°F (15°C).

• Best used as a front (low) groundcover or underplanting.   

Edible & Side Effects if Ingested:

• Non-toxic if consumed.
  

• However, these are typically used for ornamental, not edible, purposes, and reptiles and amphibians do not typically eat them.
