Scientific Name: Epipremnum aureum, formerly Scindapsus aureus and Pothos aureus

This very fast growing plant will form vines that will creep and climb wherever it can! Vigorous root system will burrow deep and/or form aerial roots to cling to surfaces in high humidity environments.

Best for These Animals:

• Almost all tropical and temperate-dwelling reptiles and amphibians.  Also good for many invertebrate setups.

Soil Depth:

• Moderate to deep soil.

Lighting:

• All light levels.

• Avoid placing directly under intense heat lamps — leaves can scorch easily.

Humidity & Misting:

• Prefers moderate to high humidity (40% – 100%), with higher humidity levels suggested for optimal growth.  It can tolerate less than 40% in certain circumstances where it still receives regular waterings of the root system.
  

• Ensure good air circulation to prevent mold.

Temperature Tolerance & Placement in the Terrarium:

• Ideal range: 60–80°F (15.5–27°C), but can take up to 90 degrees.

• Avoid prolonged exposure below 60°F (15°C).

• Can be used as a back/wall planting, or groundcover if maintained low.  Can also be partially submerged or placed next to a water feature.  

Edible & Side Effects if Ingested:

• Pothos are members of the family Araceae, so they contain low levels of oxalic acid and sharp calcium oxalate crystals known as raphides.

• Ingestion is not recommended and may cause oral irritation, however, animals don't typically ingest them.
