Scientific Name: Epipremnum aureum 'Shangri La' 

This variety of pothos has curled, cocoon-shaped leaves, resembling steamed spinach.

Best for These Animals:

• Almost all tropical, subtropical, semi-aquatic, and temperate-habitat adapted reptiles and amphibians.

Soil Depth:

• Moderate to deep soil.

• Can also vine and grow up wood and backgrounds.

Lighting:

• All light levels (or full-spectrum LED/UVB terrarium lighting), but pothos are one of the few plants that can still grow under artificial light that isn't UVB rated.

• Avoid placing directly under intense heat lamps — leaves can scorch easily.

Humidity & Misting:

• Prefers moderate to high humidity (40% – 100%), but can tolerate less than 40% in certain circumstances.
  

• Ensure good air circulation to prevent mold.

Temperature Tolerance & Placement in the Terrarium:

• Ideal range: 60–80°F (15.5–27°C), but can take between 50 and 90 degrees.

• Avoid prolonged exposure below 60°F (15°C).

• If pruned to keep size low, it can be used as a lower understory plant, as a back/wall planting, or can also be mounted on wood or backgrounds.

Edible & Side Effects if Ingested:

• Pothos are members of the family Araceae, so they contain low levels of oxalic acid and sharp calcium oxalate crystals known as raphides.

• Ingestion is not recommended and may cause oral irritation, however, reptiles and amphibians do not typically eat them.
