Abazzia di Novacella Mario's #321 Fig

Abazzia di Novacella trees produce a breba and main crop. Growers note that the breba crop takes a few years to get going while the tree matures. The trees can be relatively slow growing. They have leaves with 7 lobes and long fingers. The leaves also have attractive waxy margins. Mario was known for his system of numbering figs, but this one was also given the name “Abazia di Novacella” which translates to Novacella Abbey. Thinking about this variety growing along the grounds of a rustic Italian abbey is so charming.

The figs have a full, round shape and dark skin. The pulp is red and amber with juicy honey on the eye and in the fig. This variety has the flavors of light berry, honey, and melon. The figs are very sweet with lots of seed crunch. This is definitely a prize in many collections!

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
