Aloinopsis luckhoffii belongs to the Aizoaceae family and is native to South Africa. This compact living stone succulent forms attractive clusters of fleshy grey-green leaves covered with tiny textured bumps that give the plant a distinctive frosted appearance.

The thick leaves grow in tight rosettes close to the ground, helping the plant conserve moisture in its natural arid habitat. Its unusual texture and compact growth habit make it a prized addition to succulent and mesemb collections.

Flower Colour & Blooming

Bright yellow daisy-like flowers are produced mainly from September to December under Indian growing conditions. The cheerful blooms open during sunny daylight hours and create a beautiful contrast against the textured grey-green foliage.

Growing Conditions

Aloinopsis luckhoffii thrives in bright light and benefits from several hours of direct sunlight daily. Plant it in a highly porous, well-drained succulent mix containing coarse sand, grit or perlite to prevent water retention around the roots.

This species is primarily a winter-growing succulent and may become semi-dormant during the hottest summer months. Allow the growing medium to dry between waterings and reduce watering during dormancy. Avoid prolonged wet conditions, especially during humid weather.

A shallow container with excellent drainage is ideal. Occasional feeding with a balanced fertilizer during the active growing season helps maintain healthy growth and encourages flowering.
