If you are fighting thrips and whitefly at the same time, running two separate predators is a hassle. Amblyseius swirskii handles both, plus soft-bodied mites, from a single sachet. Unlike many predatory mites it does not enter diapause, so it stays active year-round in a controlled environment, and it reproduces fast in the warm, humid conditions most indoor grows already run. Pick it over cucumeris when whitefly is part of the picture.
Live insects ship on Tuesdays only and arrive Wednesday. Orders must be placed 7 days in advance. Anything ordered by 3pm EST Tuesday ships the following Tuesday by UPS overnight shipping.
Swirskii feeds on young thrips, whitefly eggs and larvae, and soft-bodied mites, so a single sachet covers a mixed leaf-pest problem that would otherwise take two products.
Unlike many predatory mites, swirskii does not go dormant when day length shortens, so it stays active year-round in a controlled grow, though its pace slows below 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
Depending on life stage each mite eats up to 10 thrips or whitefly larvae or 20 whitefly eggs a day, and in warm conditions it matures from egg to adult in about a week.
When pest numbers drop it feeds on pollen and mold, so a standing population persists on the plant and is ready when new pests arrive.
Hung early, before pests build up, swirskii keeps thrips and whitefly from ever taking hold, which is far easier than fighting an established outbreak.
It reproduces fastest in the warm, humid conditions of a typical indoor grow, making it a natural fit for tents, propagation areas, and greenhouses.
Hang breeding sachets in the canopy, shaded from direct sun and drip.
Or sprinkle loose carrier onto leaves for a quick boost.
Roughly one sachet per plant or per few square feet; renew about every 4 weeks.
Do not mix on the same plants with other generalist predatory mites like cucumeris or andersoni.
Place sachets in the canopy of each plant or every few square feet, shaded from direct light and drip.
Predators exit the breeding sachet a few at a time, spreading onto the leaves.
The mites feed on young thrips, whitefly eggs and larvae, and small mites on the foliage.
Because swirskii eats pollen and mold between prey and never goes dormant, a resident patrol stays on the plants.
