Very early 20th or late 19th century quilt. This is a double thick. Patchwork under patchwork with thick cotton batting fill. Cotton calicos and ticking galore… fabrics are wonderful! Backing is faded and aged silk tiny pinstripe ticking.
*we don’t typically advocate for using antique quilts as cutters but this one might be a good candidate. There are plenty of squares without damage at all.
Condition: Please see photos. As with most non gallery subjects, the fabrics have degraded and frayed revealing the patterns behind. Backing has fade and age stains in various spots. Thin in many areas. Some areas of the binding hem have come loose. Appropriate as hanging artwork, a cutter or gently used on a bed.
