A grey driftwood branch arcs upward from a solid oak block beside your armchair, curving overhead like a crane bending toward water. At the tip, a tilted mushroom cap hangs face-down, its hand-carved gill lines projecting a warm cone of golden light directly onto your book, your lap, and the armrest of the chair. The braided cloth cord follows the driftwood's curve, winding along the bark-stripped surface like a vine climbing a branch.
Arc Driftwood Stem
The stem is a single piece of naturally arching driftwood, selected for its long sweeping curve that reaches outward and overhead from the base. The arc is wide enough to extend the cap over a seated reader without the base sitting directly behind the chair. The grey-silver surface is stripped of bark by natural weathering, with knot stubs, branch scars, and smooth worn sections along its length. The driftwood is cleaned, treated, and sealed to preserve its raw form. A braided cloth cord is routed along the outer curve of the stem, held in place by small hand-forged clips that follow the natural contours of the wood. The visible cord becomes part of the design rather than something to hide.
Tilted Gill Glow Cap
The cap is mounted at the end of the arc at a downward angle, facing the reader below. The shape is an asymmetric dome, higher on the back edge and lower on the front, following the natural tilt of a shelf fungus growing from a leaning branch. The top surface is polished smooth in warm golden tones with flowing grain and natural knots. Underneath, hundreds of tight gill lines are carved by hand from the center outward. The built-in LED shines through the carved channels in a focused, directional cone of warm 2700K light. Because the cap tilts downward rather than sitting level, the light concentrates on the reading area below rather than spreading in all directions. Dimmable from full task lighting for reading to a low ambient glow for evenings.
Solid Oak Block Base
The base is a rectangular block of solid oak with clean, squared edges and a smooth sanded surface. The warm honey tone of the oak contrasts with the grey driftwood above. The block is heavy and dense, serving as a counterweight to balance the arching driftwood and the cap at the far end. A foot dimmer switch sits on the floor beside the cord where it exits the base.

Care
Wipe the polished cap with a slightly damp cloth. Reapply wood oil once a year. Dust the driftwood stem with a soft dry brush. Check the cord clips periodically. LED needs no maintenance. Avoid excessive moisture.
