A single piece of wood, bent into one long curve that starts at the floor and ends six feet away above your sofa. That is the structural idea behind this lamp. Everything else follows from it.
The stem rises from a round weighted base at a steep angle, then gradually arcs forward and downward until the mushroom dome hangs directly over a seating area. The bend is continuous. There is no joint, no elbow, no mechanical pivot. The wood follows one smooth trajectory from base to shade, and the grain follows the curve the entire way.
Underneath the dome, individual wood slats radiate outward from the center like the gills of a mushroom viewed from below. These slats are spaced with narrow gaps between them. When the LED inside the dome switches on, light passes through those gaps and projects a radial pattern downward onto whatever sits below: a book, a lap, a coffee table surface. The pattern shifts depending on viewing angle. Look up from directly beneath, and you see a starburst. Move to the side, and the lines elongate and overlap.
The dome itself is solid on top. No light escapes upward or sideways through the cap surface. All illumination travels downward through the gill slats, which means the lamp lights a specific zone rather than flooding a room. This makes it a reading lamp, a conversation lamp, or a focal light for a seating group, not a general ambient source.
The round base sits flat and heavy. Its diameter is wide enough to counterbalance the full horizontal reach of the arc without tipping. The base surface matches the stem wood in tone and finish, keeping the visual weight low and grounded while the arc does all the dramatic work overhead.
Because the arc determines where light falls, placement matters. Position the base behind or beside a sofa, and the dome centers itself over the middle cushion. Move it next to an armchair, and you get a dedicated overhead reading spot. The reach stays fixed, so the relationship between base position and light position is always predictable.
The integrated LED module sits inside the dome with a dimmable driver. Full brightness gives you clear task light through the gill slats. Dialed down to thirty percent, the slat pattern softens and the gaps between gills glow faintly, turning the underside of the dome into a warm geometric display.
