The Victoria Fern is a cultivar of the Japanese Bird's Nest Fern, selected for continuously wavy, ruffled frond margins that give the whole rosette a crimped, crown like appearance. That is a different look from a plain Bird's Nest Fern, whose fronds are smooth and flat along their length. Victoria's compact rosette and textured foliage make it a standout on a shelf or windowsill.
It wants bright, filtered light, roughly 80 to 90 percent shade, medium watering in a mix that holds moisture well, and warm temperatures between 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. It is a houseplant across most of the country, and can summer outdoors in a sheltered, shaded spot in USDA zones 9 and 10 before coming back inside for winter.
