Back-to-School Fall Container Garden

A bright Marigold that flowers in school-bus yellow with maroon blazes embodies the seasonal swing celebrated in our exclusive Back-to-School Fall Container Garden. Contributing contrasting colors and forms, and a warm welcome to the new season, are the coppery-peach leaves of a Heuchera, the dark, purple and gray-green foliage of an Ornamental Cabbage, and wisps of textural green and orange from a carefree Carex. 4 plants total, one of each variety listed below. Container not included.

Some plants require more space in container gardens than others. To accommodate the 4 plants in this collection, we recommend a container at least 12" in diameter and 12" deep.

If you choose to overwinter your plants, they will need a little special treatment. Although we can’t guarantee your plants’ successful return next year, here are our best recommendations.

In climates where winter temperatures drop well below freezing, containers should be dismantled in late fall. The Heuchera and Carex are perennial and can be planted in the ground. Simply discard the Tagetes, and the Ornamental Cabbage which are annuals and will not survive in areas below 20°F. In mild-winter climates (Zone 8 and warmer), these plants can be left outdoors in containers.
