Native to the limestone regions of southern China near the Vietnam border, Begonia barosma was known among collectors as Begonia U667 before being formally named in 2023. The name "barosma" comes from a Greek word meaning “heavy fragrance,” referring to the species’ pleasantly scented flowers when in bloom. It develops thick, fleshy leaves that mature into a velvety blackish-green, each displaying unique silver-white variegation that varies from plant to plant. Best grown in warm, humid conditions with bright indirect light and consistent moisture, Begonia barosma develops its most impressive foliage under attentive care.
