Belleclare Sport Fig

The Belleclare Sport is a large fig that has green skin with some red blushing on it. The bright red pulp has a thick creamy texture and berry flavor. The trees produce leaves with 5 lobes and serrated edges. Many growers have admired the beautiful “weeping” effect that Belleclare Sport trees get when their heavy fruit weighs down the ends of their branches. Belleclare Sport will produce two very different figs between their breba and main crops. Brebas are large, whereas the main crop figs are half their size. Many growers have appreciated the differences in these two tasty figs–it’s like having two varieties in one tree!

When do we ship cuttings?

We begin shipping cuttings once the trees are dormant. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start by late November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early Spring until the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

Your cuttings will be cut to order to ensure freshness and provide the greatest chance of rooting success. Cuttings will be approximately 8”, with at least 3 nodes, and will be thicker than a #2 pencil (many are sharpie thickness or greater). Our mother trees are stored in a climate-controlled environment to keep the trees dormant and healthy through the winter and early Spring. The cuttings are guaranteed to arrive in perfect, ready to root, condition.
