This striking Black Forest cane, dating to around 1900, features a finely carved wooden handle in the form of a wolf-like canine head. The carving is highly expressive, with engraved fur details and a dynamic, slightly ferocious expression that gives the piece a vivid presence. The mouth is open to reveal pointed teeth, likely made of bone, with the tongue and palate painted in red for added realism. Glass eyes further enhance the lifelike quality, creating an eye-catching and characterful object. The shaft is made of wood and shows a vertical split consistent with age, which does not detract from its overall solidity and charm. A metal collar neatly joins the handle to the shaft.

The cane has lost its original metal ferrule at the tip, and a few small front teeth are missing, though this is barely noticeable.
