Chinese Trumpet Creeper

Campsis Grandiflora belongs to the Bignoniaceae family and originates from South Eastern China. This vigorous woody vine produces striking trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of orange to red, measuring 3 inches in length with distinctive golden-yellow throats. The plant features pinnately compound, glossy foliage with oval leaflets edged in subtle teeth. While evergreen in warm climates, it becomes deciduous during severe winters. Blooming intermittently through summer months, this ornamental climber serves as an excellent pollinator magnet, reliably attracting hummingbirds and butterflies to garden spaces.

Environment

'Morning Calm' can be planted in semi-shade to full sun. It withstands clipping and can be trained into a neat hedge, or allowed to bush out into a more informal hedge. To keep this shrub clean and tidy, it must be pruned back in late winter to promote new growth and flowers. Plants can be pruned back heavily if required, and will resprout. The application of a balanced fertilizer after pruning will enhance the growth and flowering.
