Chives 'Onion' (Allium schoenoprasum var. schoenoprasum), commonly known as common chives or onion chives, is a hardy perennial herb in the Allium family. Growing 12–18 inches tall, it forms dense clumps of slender, hollow, grass-like green leaves with a mild onion flavor. In late spring to early summer, it produces attractive spherical clusters of lavender-pink flowers that attract pollinators.
