The Constellation of Blue Stars Ipheion Mix is a great way to get to know some of the best blues in the bulb world. We include 'Wisley Blue' and 'Froyle Mill,' with pure white 'Album' to add sparkle. They make a stunning underplanting for late-season Daffodils and midseason Tulips. The bulbs are small, quick and easy to plant, and inexpensive, so there's no reason not to give this superb mixture a try. Not labeled. 50 bulbs fill 5 sq. ft.
Ipheion makes cheerful carpets of sweetly fragrant, 1″ star-shaped flowers beginning here in northern Connecticut in April. Plants grow just 3–5″ tall, so they're ideal for edging a spring border or naturalizing under deciduous trees and shrubs, where they soon spread to form impressive colonies. The foliage will persist until hot weather arrives, and then may appear again in fall, similar to Muscari, but don't be alarmed.
