Crotalaria Juncea Sunn Hemp - Raw Seed (lb)

Crotalaria juncea ‘CIAT’ sunn hemp is a vigorous tropical annual legume grown as a warm-season cover crop for rapid biomass, soil protection, and nitrogen fixation. Its upright growth and deep taproot perform especially well during the hottest part of summer, and plants may begin flowering about 60–75 days after planting when conditions are favorable.

Sow after frost danger has passed into warm soil—approximately 65°F or warmer—and choose a well-drained site. Sunn hemp tolerates relatively low fertility and acidic soil, but it does not tolerate saturated conditions. For a cover-crop stand, drill or broadcast seed evenly and avoid overly wide rows that leave soil exposed. Terminate before mature seed develops and before stems become excessively fibrous if easy incorporation is the goal.
