The Elephants Ear ‘Red Secret’ is one of those worthwhile Alocasias to add to your collection. Nothing can match its otherworldly foliage in deep red with black markings. Its metallic sheen, on the other hand, sets it apart from other houseplants.

Alocasia comes from the warm humid jungles of Asia. Making a warm kitchen or bathroom a good place for this houseplant to grow, however, if good humidity is available, they can thrive in any living space.

Due to its evolution from growing low down in the canopy, this rare Alocasia variety has developed iridescent foliage. There is a belief that this iridescence helps the Elephants Ear shed sunlight between their leaves in these dark locations, helping them thrive. In turn, this benefits those with low light, who might want to grow something special.

Elephant's ear 'Red Secret' is considered a bushing Alocasia, rather than a larger specimen that grows outward, making it a fantastic compact showpiece. Water: Keep soil evenly moist, but not saturated, so ensure that the drainage is good. Reduce watering frequency in winter.
Light: Bright, indirect light, however, can tolerate lower lighting. Best kept away from direct sunlight.
Humidity: Enjoys a humid environment and good airflow. Normal room humidity should be fine with substituted humidity. Will enjoy a bright bathroom.
Fertilize: Diluted balanced feed every two weeks, Spring to Autumn, reducing to monthly in Winter.
