Plant in sun or part shade; it will perform in either setting. Place it in nearly any soil type, so long as the soil drains well. The plant loves soil rich in humus, so adding some organic compost around its base at planting and every so often throughout the year can help it stay healthy. Give it regular, average water, trim back flower stems when desired, and remove damaged foliage in early spring.
