Fico San Pietro Fig

The Italian fig, Fico San Pietro, shares a name with the bible’s Saint Peter. Saint Peter is a popular figure in Italian culture, so it is no wonder that this variety hailing from the northern area of that country bears his name. Fico San Pietro is also known as a very attractive fruit that will beautify any grower’s garden. The skin is dark purple or black in color with little cracking. While the figs can show some striation while maturing, a ripe Fico San Pietro fig will be a solid purple color. The round shape furthers the ‘perfected’ look of this variety. Figs will grow to medium-large size. In addition to the appetizing dark figs, Fico San Pietro trees will also sprout mostly 5 lobed leaves.

When do we ship cuttings?

We begin shipping cuttings once the trees are dormant and in storage. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in early December. We continue to ship throughout the winter and early spring until the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. Your cuttings will be cut to order to ensure freshness and provide the greatest chance of rooting success. Cuttings will be a minimum length of 8”, with at least 3 nodes, and will be thicker than a #2 pencil (many are sharpie thickness or greater). Our mother trees are stored in a climate-controlled environment to keep the trees dormant and healthy through the winter and early spring, and the cuttings are guaranteed to arrive in perfect, ready to root, condition.

Our rooted cutting season begins around the end of March. When viewing our figs, it will state next to the price what is offered(cutting vs rooted cutting).

$16.99 is our flat rate charge for 1 rooted cutting. For orders with additional cuttings, a $5 per cutting charge will be applied.
