French Art Nouveau Majolica Cachepot w/ Brambles & Blackberries, C. 1900 - 9"

A charming French barbotine cachepot dating to circa 1900, modeled as a rustic tree stump resting on root-form feet. The richly textured bark is adorned with molded bramble leaves, clusters of blackberries, and delicate white blossoms, all rendered in vibrant naturalistic colors. A twisting bramble cane frames the scalloped rim, while the interior is finished in a contrasting turquoise glaze. Presented in good antique condition, with expected wear to the interior and a few small chips to the feet and lower edge consistent with age and use.

This exuberant naturalistic design reflects the fascination with nature that characterized the Belle Époque and Art Nouveau periods. Around the turn of the 20th century, French pottery manufacturers produced a wide variety of barbotine wares celebrating woodland and garden motifs through richly modeled relief and vibrant glazes.
