Hale's Best PMR Cantaloupe is an heirloom, open-pollinated cantaloupe variety that was developed by a California market gardener in 1920. Also called a "muskmelon," Hale's Best produces oval-shaped melons that average 4 lbs. These fruits have a golden netting, green skin and a beautiful orange flesh that's sweet and aromatic. This variety is more drought-tolerant than most, but melons will perform best when given adequate water. It is also almost 100% resistant to powdery mildew. This is an excellent-tasting variety that's also very good for you as it is rich in antioxidants.
