Hibiscus ‘Thunder Egg’ (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis hybrid)

Hibiscus are some of the most beloved tropical plants around, prized for their dinner plate size blooms and everblooming nature. Then there's 'Thunder Egg,' a cultivar some might call an underdog at first glance, with a bloom that's a little different from its showier cousins. But look closer and the case for 'Thunder Egg' becomes obvious. Its petals move through burnished golden yellow and rich, earthy bronze, each one speckled in a pattern that's never quite the same twice, while the center shimmers with opalescent blues, purples, and pinks. Pair that with attractive foliage and a vigorous growth habit, and 'Thunder Egg' earns its spot: not despite being different, but because of it.
