Igo Blackberry Fig

While Igo Blackberry comes from California, it is confirmed common and does not require wasp pollination. This is a dark fig with black skin and a teardrop shape. The figs have red flesh that can also have some orange and brown colors, making it really pretty. This variety was named for its notable blackberry flavor. It also has figgy flavors and an excellent jammy texture. 

According to Sacred Origin there is history on this variety dating back to 1880 when the mother tree was growing in a Chinese mining camp in northern California. Then again in the 1950s the tree was described as giant and gnarly. A 2019 encounter with a bear left the mother tree broken, split, and unable to produce further cuttings. Igo Blackberry continues to be a rare find with a delicious blackberry flavor and pretty pulp.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
