This bust sculpture is inspired by the Renaissance marble portrait of Julius Caesar by Andrea di Pietro di Marco Ferrucci, an Italian sculptor active in Florence during the early 16th century. Created around 1512–1514, the original marble work is preserved in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
The portrait presents Caesar not only as one of Rome’s most famous military and political figures, but also through the refined artistic language of the Italian Renaissance.
