Large antique French Biot jar w/ lovely aged patina 27½"

Dating from the end of the eighteenth century/early nineteenth century, a large antique French olive jar from Biot. Once used to store olives or olive oil, note the traces of yellow glaze left around the rim and interior and its pretty, aged patina on its unglazed exterior. This terracotta jar is an early example of how the Biot jar forms were beginning to transition from the straighter form of the early eighteenth century into the more bulbous designs of the nineteenth century. A perfect addition to an existing collection of pottery or way to add a touch of French country to outside and inside spaces.
