This rare earthenware pot made by the Luneville faience is branded J. Mourier & Cie Paris. Dating from the early-twentieth century, this pot originally was used for storing live leaches that were used by doctors and pharmacists. Sangsues translates as leeches - it's a good thing that the jar was labeled!
