Late 19th Century Honey Ocher Terracotta Brique Chauffeuse 9¾"

This tan-colored brique chauffeuse from the late 19th century is an exquisite example of functional Provençal pottery. Crafted from oven-proof terracotta, it features two circular openings, allowing for easy handling and transfer of heat. Traditionally, this type of chauffeuse would be heated near a fire or in a slow combustion stove and then placed under bed covers to provide warmth throughout the night.

Sourced from one of Lambesc’s oldest homes, this piece captures the rustic ingenuity typical of Provence’s historical domestic items.
