Lavender 'English Dwarf Munstead' (Lavandula angustifolia 'Munstead'), often called Munstead Lavender, is a classic compact English lavender cultivar introduced in 1916 by Gertrude Jekyll. This hardy, semi-woody perennial forms neat, mounded bushes typically 12–18 inches tall and wide (sometimes up to 24 inches), with narrow, silvery-gray-green evergreen foliage and upright spikes of fragrant lavender-blue to purple flowers blooming profusely from late spring through summer. Known for its sweet, classic lavender scent without heavy camphor notes, it's one of the hardiest varieties, thriving in full sun, well-drained soil, and zones 5–9, with excellent drought and heat tolerance once established.
Prized for versatility, 'Munstead' excels in herb gardens, borders, low hedges, rock gardens, containers, and knot designs.
