This compact, evergreen perennial shrub forms dense, rounded plants typically 18–24 inches tall and wide, with narrow, aromatic silver-gray to blue-silver leaves that provide luminous contrast year-round. It produces dense spikes of deep purple to plum flowers topped by showy, lighter purple "butterfly" bracts (flags) that resemble rabbit ears. Heat- and drought-tolerant once established, it thrives in full sun, well-drained soil, and offers reblooming from spring through summer with good disease resistance.
