Lou Monti's Carmonti Celeste Fig

Over 35 years ago, Lou purchased this variety as a Father’s Day gift for his dad, Carlo. Back then it was unusual to have a tree shipped all the way from California, but for the Monti family fig collecting (and sharing) was a family tradition. Over the years the Montis noted the reliable performance of this tree, naming it as one of the most prized trees in their collection. That led Lou to bestow it with a mashup of his father’s name “CARlo” and “Monti.” While there are many Celeste figs out there, this family of fig collectors have given their seal of approval to the mother tree known as Carmonti Celeste.

Lou Monti’s Carmonti Celeste is a Celeste fig that has been thoroughly vetted. This decades-old mother tree is grown by Lou Monti, a prominent fig grower and forum member. One of his top performers, Carmonti Celeste is a productive and vigorously growing tree.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
