Medici #3 Fig

Medici #3 is part of a collection of figs that come from the Medici property in Florence, Italy. These varieties are sometimes referred to as Medici "HR," which stands for either Hunting Reserve or Historic Reserve. These 3 distinct types of figs were found on the hunting reserve ground of the wealthy Medici family of bankers and politicians. They are ancient varieties that may date back hundreds of years, as the family has been notable since the 15th century.

Sometimes the figs have more coloration near the base of the fig and may form sugar spots there. Medici #3 figs have amber, red, and brown pulp. The pulp is jammy with a berry flavor. Medici #3 trees are productive and grow small size figs. They typically have 5-lobed leaves with smooth edges on the leaves.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
