A mid-20th-century oil on canvas garden study of chrysanthemums, presented in a slender gilt wood frame. Lush swirls of blush, coral, and cream petals rise from deep moss and olive-green grounds, rendered with soft, atmospheric handling. The brushwork is lively yet controlled, allowing the flowers to appear both abundant and weightless against the subdued background. The painting is signed at lower right by Gabrielle Nicolson, who was born in Nancy in the early 20th century, trained under Achille Cesbron, Adler, and Montézin, and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, where she presented works in 1929 and 1937 reflecting an Impressionist-influenced, atmospheric approach. Light wear to the surface is consistent with age.
