Musa is one of two or three genera in the family Musacaea. Though they grow as tall as trees, banana and plantain plants are not woody and their trunk is made up of the bases of the huge leaf stalks. These plants are admired for their large patterned leaves, fast growing habit and large size.
- Light: plenty of bright, direct sunlight
- Watering: soak medium and water when the top 10-15% is dry
- Soil: well drained all purpose soil mix
- Humidity: preferably 50% or higher
- Fertilize every two weeks during growing season
- Not toxic to pets
