A thick wooden log leans forward from a chunky disc base, curving gently toward your reading chair like a tree bending under the weight of its own growth. At the top, a wide half-dome cap spreads outward, its underside carved with hundreds of dense gill lines that fan warm golden light in a full sunburst across your book, your blanket, and the hardwood floor at your feet. The log and the cap share the same warm golden grain, the same knots, the same flowing patterns. Standing in the corner of your living room with the light on, it looks like a giant mushroom that grew through the floorboards overnight.
Naturally Leaning Log Stem
The stem is a thick, solid log selected for its natural forward lean. The curve is not carved or forced. It is the way the tree grew, bending toward light or away from wind over decades. The bark is stripped away, revealing golden heartwood with prominent knot holes, grain swirls, and the smooth ridges where branches once extended. The surface is sanded smooth but retains the organic contour of the original tree, wider at the base and narrowing slightly as it rises. The natural lean positions the cap forward over a seating area, providing directed light without needing a crossbar, branch arm, or pendant mechanism. The log is kiln-dried and structurally tested to support the heavy cap at its leaning angle.
Deep Half-Dome Cap with Dense Gill Glow
The cap is a deep half-dome shape, thicker and more voluminous than a shallow parasol. It is carved from a single block of solid wood matched in species and tone to the log stem. The polished outer surface shows flowing cathedral grain with warm amber shifts and natural knots that echo the stem below. Underneath, hundreds of tightly spaced gill lines are carved by hand from the center outward to the rim. The gill density on this cap is the highest in the collection, with fine, even spacing that creates a detailed, precise sunburst when the LED shines through.
The built-in LED array sits at the cap-stem junction and projects warm 2700K light through every carved channel. The deep dome shape captures and redirects the light before releasing it, creating a focused, concentrated pool on the reading area below. Dimmable from full reading brightness to a soft background glow.
Chunky Disc Base
The base is a thick, solid disc of the same wood as the stem and cap. The disc is wider than the stem base, providing stable counterweight for the leaning trunk and the heavy cap at its top. The proportions are deliberately chunky, with a visible thickness that communicates weight and permanence. Growth rings are visible on the flat top surface. A felt pad protects the floor.
