The fast-moving pirate bug for thrips that are already established
When thrips pressure is high and visible, predatory mites can be too slow to catch up. Orius insidiosus, the minute pirate bug, is a fast, mobile generalist that goes after adult thrips as well as spider mites, aphids, and whiteflies. It uses piercing mouthparts to kill prey, and it will keep killing even when it is not actively feeding, which makes it a dependable choice for knocking down an outbreak that is already underway.
