A pair of Venetian bronze cavalli, late 19th century, cast as fantastical sea-horse figures with stylized horse heads and sinuous, scrolling bodies. Each figure features a bridled head, a finely detailed mane, and flowing, wave-like forms suggesting the movement of water, terminating in a curled foliate tail, and set on a low fluted oval plinth. The bronze has developed a warm golden-brown patina with darker tones in the recesses, highlighting the crisp chased details of the harness and fluid, ornamental surfaces.
