Forerunner Triticale and Blando Brome contribute dependable cool-season growth, while Intermediate Ryegrass and Tetraploid Annual Ryegrass establish quickly. Dryland Orchardgrass adds a persistent perennial component suited to lower-moisture forage systems.

The mixture's range of growth habits helps occupy the field, protect soil from erosion, and produce forage across changing seasonal conditions. Quick-growing ryegrasses support early stand development, while orchardgrass and brome contribute fibrous roots and longer-term coverage. Dryland performance still depends on timely rainfall, soil moisture storage, fertility, planting date, and harvest management; the mix cannot compensate for prolonged drought without adequate establishment moisture.
