Peaceful Valley Omega-3 Chicken Forage Blend is a diverse mixture for establishing irrigated forage areas where chickens and other poultry can scratch, graze, and peck. Grasses and grains provide ground coverage, while buckwheat, millet, flax, alfalfa, clovers, and birdsfoot trefoil broaden the available forage.

Flax is a dietary source of alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid. A hen’s complete diet can influence egg fatty-acid composition, but planting this forage blend does not guarantee a particular omega-3 level, yolk color, health outcome, or egg-production response. Use it as a supplement—not a replacement—for a nutritionally complete poultry ration, clean water, and appropriate grit.

• 25% Cereal Rye
• 6% Red Clover NCO
• 5% Non-Dormant Alfalfa
• 5% Berseem Clover NCO
• 5% Japanese Millet
• 4% Ladino White Clover NCO
• 5% Birdsfoot Trefoil NCO

• Application rate: 2–3 lb per 1,000 sq ft or approximately 50 lb per acre
• Seed treatment: This blend contains both nitrocoated and raw seed and is designated Nitrocoated at the product level. Red clover, Berseem clover, Ladino white clover, and birdsfoot trefoil are Nitrocoated. The remaining components, including the alfalfa, are uncoated.
• Inoculant: The Nitrocoated legumes do not need additional inoculant. For nodulation of the uncoated alfalfa, use a compatible Alfalfa-Clover inoculant.
• Germination: Approximately 5–10 days under favorable conditions
• Plant height: Approximately 2–3 feet when ungrazed

Plant after frost danger has passed. Prepare a weed-free area, sow evenly, cover lightly, and maintain consistent moisture through germination. Exclude birds until plants reach approximately 2–5 inches, then use limited or rotational grazing so the stand is not grazed to bare soil.
