Philodendron aff. pierrelianum "Red Petiole"

Native to the expanse of lowland rainforest that spans the frontier of the regions of San martin and Loreto in North eastern Peru from the eastern most of the Andes at Pongo de caynarachi and into the lowland plains of the Yurimaguas area.  This relatively slow growing species is absolutely fantastic in the terrarium! The round vibrant green foliage extends from a brilliant red petiole.  Grows naturally alongside many poison frogs including Ranitomeya fantastica (Lowlands) Ranitomeya imitator, Ranitomeya variabilis, Ameerega trivitatta, pongoensis, hahneli.
