The Kangaroo Paw Footed Fern gets its name from its long, arching fronds of leathery, undivided leaflets, broader and lobed at the tip in a shape said to resemble a kangaroo's paw. Furry, elongated rhizomes creep and spread beneath the foliage, giving the plant its low, mounding habit and its place in the trade grouping of footed ferns alongside relatives like Rabbit's Foot and Blue Star Fern, though all are different genera.
Give it bright, indirect light, moderate to high humidity, and soil that dries slightly at the surface between waterings, and its low, spreading habit will fill out a wide pot or hanging basket beautifully. It is native to southeast Australia and New Zealand, and grows well as a houseplant in any climate.
