This species forms a rounded, spreading shrub that grows to around 1.5 metres in height with a spread of up to 2 metres. It is a strong grower and a rewarding addition to indigenous gardens, bringing colour and structure to fynbos landscapes.
The flowers appear in summer and range in colour from shades of red and orange to bright yellow, creating a vibrant display. Their distinctive pincushion shape also makes them highly prized as long lasting cut flowers for floral arrangements.
