A ballast is an essential component to a grow room environment. With the PowerPlant Controllable Ballast is controllable via a controller, meaning that growers are able to control multiple at the same time. This results in the ability to control large grow rooms with multiple ballasts and ability to have them in synergy on the same settings. Fully fitted with the extra Boost (115%) setting allowing growers to get 15% more out of the plants and supplying them without light.

This ballast should only be used with 600W HID Lamps.

Dimming Settings (300W (50%) & 450W (75%)) allows growers to control temperature, as less heat will be produced at lower settings. This is also required to allow the Sunrise/Sunset features of controllers.

Supplied as a stand-alone ballast with a flying IEC lead, enabling you to add any reflector fitted with a universal IEC socket. Ability to choose the reflector that you want, no need for brand specific models.

Science Behind the Product
A ballast is the electrical device which is necessary to run and light a HID lamp safely. The ballast regulates the current to the lamps and provides sufficient voltage to start the lamps. Without a ballast to limit its current, a lamp connected directly to a high voltage power source would rapidly and uncontrollably increase its current draw - within moments the lamp would overheat and burn out. During lamp starting, the ballast must briefly supply high voltage to establish an arc between the two lamp electrodes. Once the arc is established, the ballast quickly reduces the voltage and regulates the electric current to produce a steady light output.
