San Donato di Ninea Fig

San Donato di Ninea is a fig variety from southern Italy. It comes from the region of Calabria that is known for its many amazing fig varieties. San Donato di Ninea is a Mt. Etna/Hardy Chicago type fig. Like other figs of that type, it is loved for its early ripening and dark berry flavor. This particular variety was brought to the US by relatives of Joe Grandinetti, an active fig enthusiast. Grandinetti spread the word amongst the fig community about this hardy and productive Italian variety.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
