San Pietro Mario's #232 Fig

San Pietro Mario's #232 figs are drop shaped and medium sized, at about 45 grams. San Pietro has a mild berry taste and good sweetness. Its name translates to “Saint Peter.” The fig came into Mario’s collection by way of Paolo Belloni of Pomona Gardens. Belloni is a well-known fig grower and conservationist who grows his collection of rare fruits in his botanical conservatory in Cisternino, Italy. An Italian transplant himself, it is no wonder that Mario would come to own trees from the famed Pomona Gardens near the Adriatic Sea in southern Italy.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
