Scheurich 289-41 West German Relief Stoneware Floor Vase, Circa 1970

A beautifully modelled Scheurich 289-41 West German floor vase, dating from the late 1960s to early 1970s. Finished in a refined palette of soft grey, sage green and white, this striking stoneware vase features richly moulded geometric and floral relief decoration that wraps around the entire body, creating wonderful texture and depth.

Manufactured by Scheurich Keramik, one of West Germany's leading pottery makers, the vase is impressed to the underside with the model number 289-41 and W. Germany, confirming its authenticity. The model number indicates the vase's form (289) and original production height of approximately 41 cm.

Unlike the bold lava glazes often associated with the period, this example has a more understated colour palette that sits comfortably within contemporary interiors while retaining all the character of classic West German pottery. Whether displayed as a sculptural object on its own or styled with tall dried stems or branches, it makes a timeless decorative statement.
