Sedum rupestre 'Angelina'

A golden ground cover from Croatia, Sedum rupestre 'Angelina' features bright yellow spiky-leaved shoots that spread steadily and often develop ginger tips, creating delightful honeyed patterns. Stunning planted around annuals or perennials with dark-colored foliage and best in dryish soil. Also excellent in hanging baskets.

They prefer well-drained soil with a pH close to neutral (7.0) and can thrive with only a modest level of nutrients. Some Sedums spread quickly and may become pests— we do not offer any of those. There are many fascinating and colorful forms that are invaluable for the rock garden; a few can be used to advantage in the perennial border.

Sedum is a large genus of fleshy-leaved annual, biennial, and perennial herbs in the Crassulaceae family, from temperate and subtropical zones, mostly in the Northern Hemisphere. Our favorite, upright varieties have been reclassified as Hylotelephium and other genera. Sedums are succulents, having the ability to store water in their tissues and use it efficiently. These mat-forming plants occupy habitats from arid deserts and grasslands to mountain cliffs. Succulence and other adaptations (waxy coatings, purple or blue/silver leaf coloration) allow Sedums to thrive in harsh conditions—cold, heat, wind, blazing sun, dry shallow soils. These tough, low-maintenance plants prefer average-to-poor soil and require excellent drainage. Also known as Stonecrops, they present a kaleidoscope of substantial, colorful foliage over a long season, topped by star-shaped, nectar-rich flowers for pollinators. They’re perfect drought-tolerant choices for rocky, sandy or gravelly soils in rock gardens, containers, pavement edges, stone patios, hellstrips, green roofs, and water-wise gardens of all kinds.
